What a pricey light meter designed for 🎥 sets can show us about computer screens...

If you’re curious why sore eyes, tiredness, or lack of focus are a typical part of the day, this test showed a big chunk of the problem.

First off, if, like me, you work your tail off via a computer every day and experience the above, please know there’s NOT something wrong with you. It’s the PROCESS we were taught and it’s a simple fix. Also, it ain’t your fault you’re a beast in front of a computer screen. That’s your hammer and you’re just hitting the nails.

After being curious, I took a light meter to my Mac and measured the light coming from it.

It showed a spike of blue/violet light and a tiny bit of red light.

Before we get to the process, let’s understand LIGHT. Natural blue/violet light comes from the sun. We normally ONLY see blue/violet when it's is more or less balanced with red light. That’s because while blue/violet light stresses the body, red light helps it heal.

So if blue/violet light activates stress, continuous time seeing blue/violet (without enough healing light) is a recipe for over-stress. That’s how tiredness, crummy focus and feeling burned out enter the picture.

Now, the PROCESS. It’s not the computer screen or your eyes—Working every day in front of a screen without strong enough protection is the problem.

Image 4 shows me taking the same measurement—except this time with our light balancing eyewear. It’s something we made for hustlers who want to stay healthy and feel great at work.

The results were awesome. Blue/violet light was crushed to the same level as red.

Sure, pictures and video look better without tinted glasses—but at what cost? Worsening vision and lagging focus and burnout? No thanks. For work that isn’t color intensive these do the trick.

If you use a computer to write/read/learn/edit and deal with any of the mentioned obstacles, you’ll see a significant difference in how you feel and work after balancing light in your space.
